STYLIST JENNIFER BECKERMAN (Interviewed on Oribe.pro)

Your photos from November are great – love the big hair. How did you get the concept for the shoots you combined into your portfolio?
The first three shots are from the first hair show I produced myself. It was called "Awakening Aphrodite," and I created the looks for 12 models. I wanted an army of angels both good and evil to battle for the love of Aphrodite. I had the image of her in my mind (lots of curls, big red feathers) and the rest of the concept grew from there. Good angels would be smooth, shiny, sleek…and bad angels would have texture and grit. I pulled inspiring photos from magazines (I love to turn to the Japanese fashion mags for inspiration).

What are the essentials you bring with you when shooting editorial?
My newest essential is Dry Texturizing Spray. What an amazing product for updos and editorial work. Of course, I'll need all of my hot tools, teasing combs, brushes and pins. I also like to make sure I have accessories for the hair. Feather pieces, flowers, ribbons…it's smart to be prepared. You never know what will be thrown at you during the course of a shoot.

What’s the biggest challenge when doing a wilder or concept hairstyle?
I'm a perfectionist and feel somewhat like a mad scientist when I'm "in it." It's hard for me to step away because there's always something more I can do to make it bigger, better, badder. I like the hair to tell a story.

When do you feel most creative with your work?
My favorite outlet is definitely editorial. For me, styling hair is no different than working with clay. I love to build and shape the hair until it's both balanced and beautiful. I rarely have a plan, though I always have a vision. I think it's all about creating interesting shapes and textures. I tend to do my best work when I'm under pressure…I look at it more like an artistic adventure.

This is Katie Shillingford. She's a fashion editor at Dazed and Confused and her hair color is really amazing.. it uses past seasons ombre trend to create a new inspirational look for fall. Personally, I never throught having blue hair could be this cool...

Let The Wild Rumpus Start!!!

The best soundtrack to have come out this year. Karen O, lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, masters the sound that fits perfectly with this classic book turned movie. Featuring many of Indie Greats from Gris Gris, Deerhunter to Dead Weather/Raconteur members. The movie is everything it should be and the soundtrack fits it like a glove. joyous, playful, sad, and wild. The Soundtrack/Score features choruses from children. Which can makes it enjoyable for all. Its soft guitars, and hums have a sort of melancholy feel. While other tracks are just plain exuberant. A true classic.

Is it real now?

The Band consists of Luke Steele (Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau). The two met at a bar during a meeting with A&R's executive Simon Moor. The two instantly hit it off and began writing material.

Walking On A Dream was release in Australia on October 2008 and Debuted here in the U.S. Feb 2009. The band has already reached platinum in their hometown and soared to fourth place in the UKs BBC polls.

The album is the most cosmic electronic/glam/pop fused band to have come out, since Bowie. The bands sound is the largest in along time. And has a very MGMTesque sound to it. But by far has its own sound in its own right. The band hasnt hit our Billboard charts yet. But prepared to be apart of The Empire. Album is flawless.
